Welcome to UNAIDS Science now and to the 5th issue of HIV this month 2014!
UNAIDS co-presented with the New York Academy of Sciences a symposium on HIV2014: Science, Community and Policy for Key Vulnerable Populations on 5 May. Following this, UNAIDS ran a Debrief on the website called, How to ensure that the benefits of recent scientific advances reach key populations. E-briefings of the day’s session will soon be made available.
On HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, 18 May, UNAIDS also called for scaled-up action to find a vaccine against HIV.
We will have an all-staff briefing on the current status of HPTN071, also known as PoPART or Population Effects of anti-retroviral therapy to reduce HIV transmission by principal investigator Richard Hayes and colleagues, Virginia Bond and Sarah Fidler on 20th June. We will share this briefing by webcast. The link will follow at a closer date.
