Each month, we bring you the newest edition of the UNAIDS HIV this month newsletter.
Welcome to UNAIDS Science now and to the twelfth issue of HIV this month!
This month, you might be interested in a commentary in the Lancet by Anthony Fauci and Hilary Marston on Achieving an AIDS-free world: science and implementation which talks about the epidemic, what has been achieved to date and what needs to be done to achieve the goal of ending AIDS. This month also saw the passing of Nelson Mandela, a great man who inspired everyone working for justice, human dignity, equality and the global AIDS response.
At the same time, the 17th International Conference on AIDS and sexually transmitted infections in African (ICASA) happened in Cape Town, South Africa from 7-11 December. Its theme “Now more than ever. Getting to Zero” was derived from UNAIDS vision of the three zeros: zero new infections, zero AIDS-related deaths and zero discrimination.
