CC&DW was commissioned by Cape Town Routes Unlimited (CTRU) to provide an analysis of the patterns and trends followed by international and domestic tourists during the time period of this project.

Project Deliverables:

–          An analysis and interpretation of the CTRU visitor tracking survey was conducted.

–          An analysis of the patterns and trends followed by international and domestic tourists according to a set of predefined variables is given.

Our Approach:

The data collection techniques that were employed were both qualitative and quantitative in nature. Face-to-face interviews were conducted, as well as 320 surveys within the 6 regions of the Western Cape. The survey questionnaire was developed by the CTRU.

Value:

The client received an overview of the survey questions and the responses of both the international and domestic visitors. The international and domestic visitor’s responses were analyzed separately. The survey yielded results on the following for both international and domestic visitors:

-Source markets and their characteristics

-Means of transport to and in the Western Cape

-Number of nights spent in the Western Cape and the type of accommodation used.

-the travel size group and the main reason for visiting

-regions visited and activities participated in

-The visitors household’s monthly gross income and the total amount of money spent, expenses and how they experienced pricing in the Western Cape

-what their ratings of the Western Cape would be as well as the most positive experiences and the most negative experiences

-Whether they will be returning for another visit to the Western Cape or not
